Executive Report Template

Persuasive writing in business is an art that can warrant days or even weeks to finish a piece that is sure to sway your audience. But in today’s fast-paced world, you don’t always have time to write an essay explaining your company’s best points. The Executive Report template guide takes care of that and narrows the writing down to the bare bones – AKA the information your audience wants to see up front.

How to use the Executive Report Template

This one page Word template is an easy guide to getting your point across. Download the template and open it into Word and start by filling in the [date] at the top. Next, move down to the Product Description/Objective portion. Write 2 to 3 concise sentences that clearly explain what your product or service is. Keep this to the point, and avoid using fluff statements full of adjectives and jargon.

Under Target Audience, you’ll describe in 1 to 2 sentences who your product or service is going to be aimed at. Think of demographics such as age, income, gender, and the needs or wants of the intended audience. This should be specific, so avoid using “everyone” or just one demographic point.

Next is the competition portion. List 2 or 3 businesses that offer the same service/product that you offer. Avoid claiming that you have no competitors, and instead choose companies most similar to yours. In the last part of this portion, state why your product/service is able to beat out and separate itself from the competition.

The Risk/Opportunity portion of an executive report can be intimidating, but it’s necessary. Think about the challenges your business will face – it could be a small demographic, or a large amount of competition. Finish this portion off with opportunity – this will describe how your service/product will make a difference in the market and how it can become profitable.

Finally, the conclusion should summarize what you have previously stated and what that information will amount to.  Use a call to action, and stay firm and strong in the faith that the product/service you are presenting is worthwhile.
