What is STAAR?
The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, more commonly referred to as (STAAR), is a series of state-mandated standardized tests used in Texas. These tests cover public primary and secondary schools to assess a student’s knowledge for a particular grade-level.
Here are just a few examples of what the test covers in terms of grades.
- Reading and mathematics, grades 3–8
- Writing at grades 4 and 7
- Science at grades 5 and 8
- Social studies at grade 8
- End-of-course (EOC) assessments for English I, English II, Algebra I, biology and U.S history.
Using the STAAR Test Review Template
To download the free template, you will simply follow the link we have provided at the bottom of this page.
The first few paragraphs give you some background to the test and why it’s necessary for the state to implement. You can read this section but it’s generally not needed for the test.
If you scroll down to the test questions, you can use these questions to practice for the actual test. These are common questions that will likely be asked of you.
You can start to get familiarized with the material by going through the list of example questions and testing your own knowledge and skill.
When you finish answering the questions, you can easily check your answers to see how well you did. The answers are given to you in-depth.
Reading the answers will also help you understand why these are the correct choices. This will also help you understand the mindset in which the questions were written.
